Frequently asked questions
How many places can we see in one day?
Fewer than most itineraries claim. Two substantial stops with lunch is a comfortable day; three is possible when they sit close together and none of them is a large estate. The driving between counties is the part people underestimate. Send your list and you will get a candid view of what fits, what would be rushed and what is better kept for another day.
Does the chauffeur act as a tour guide?
Your chauffeur drives, looks after you and knows the practicalities of the route well, but that is different from a qualified guide with real expertise in a collection or a period. Where you want that depth, a guide is arranged separately from the car. Options can be researched and put to you at the planning stage, with their availability and fees coming from the guide.
Can you arrange the hotels along our route?
Suggestions can be researched and put to you based on where the route naturally lands each night, along with practical notes on parking and morning start times. Any booking is made on your behalf and only once you have approved it. Rooms, rates and availability come from the hotel and are confirmed by them. If your hotels are already booked, the route is simply built around them.
Do we need to book tickets for the houses in advance?
Often, yes. Many properties now use timed entry and popular dates go early in the season. Entry arrangements can be researched and put to you, with costs and availability coming from the property itself, and most sites prefer tickets in the visitor name. Requirements differ between properties and are checked for your specific dates while the itinerary is being planned.
Can we change the plan while we are touring?
Yes, and most tours do. If a village holds your attention, the weather turns or everyone is tired by four, the order can be reshuffled or a stop dropped. What is harder to move on the day are timed entry slots and hotel check in windows, which is why they are treated as the fixed points of the itinerary from the start.
How far ahead should a multi day tour be arranged?
As early as you reasonably can, particularly for summer dates, a specific vehicle or a route through popular areas where hotels and entry slots fill quickly. Shorter notice is sometimes workable and is always worth asking about. Nothing is assumed to be available; each element is checked against your dates and confirmed to you on WhatsApp before it is treated as arranged.
