Is there a limit on how far a chauffeur goes?
No fixed limit applies. We drive the length of England, into Wales and up through Scotland, in whichever direction suits, not only out of London. On a very long route, the difference lies in the planning. Rest breaks come into it, as does whether the chauffeur has to stay overnight, and sometimes whether another shape of journey would suit you better. Send us the route, and you'll get a clear yes or no on whether the road makes sense.
Does a long distance car cost less than train tickets?
It comes down to the particular journey, how many of you are travelling and how long you need the car for. Put a private car next to one advance rail fare and the comparison misses the point. What you're weighing it against is the whole trip from door to door, with your luggage counted in. We work out the cost for each itinerary once we know the route, timings and vehicle, and if the train wins, we'll say so plainly.
Will the car wait for me while I'm in a meeting?
Yes. On long distance jobs it happens all the time. It can wait an hour or the best part of a day, then drive you home or carry on to your next address. We talk through the waiting when we plan, since it shapes the day and has a bearing on the cost. If you'll be away long enough that letting the car go is the better call, we'll suggest that.
And if the motorway gets shut, what then?
Before you leave and throughout the drive, we keep an eye on conditions, and we divert early if another route looks like the smarter option. Now and then an incident leaves no real alternative. When that happens, you'll hear straight away how bad the hold-up looks, so you're not left guessing. Should it threaten an appointment, your chauffeur can help you let the people expecting you know, while the car carries on along the best line still open.
How much notice do you need for a long distance journey?
Earlier notice helps, and more so if you're after a particular vehicle, an early morning start from somewhere remote, or a date when lots of events are on. Short notice can often still work. We never take availability for granted. It gets checked against your date, route and preferred car, then confirmed to you on WhatsApp, and only after that is anything treated as arranged.
Is a long return trip in one day possible with a single chauffeur?
Some days, yes. Others, no. The deciding factors are how much driving there is in total, how long the wait in the middle lasts and how many hours the thing spans. If it's too much for one person to drive safely, you've got three alternatives: an overnight stay near your destination, a later return or a second chauffeur. We'll talk the plan through with you openly, rather than quietly stretching it to fit the schedule.
